On Aug. 26, 2019, Life Care Centers of America honored Selina Stewart, senior executive director at La Habra Convalescent Hospital in La Habra, California, with one of two President’s Awards for its Southwest Division.
Stewart also oversees North Walk Villa Convalescent Hospital in Norwalk, California.
The President’s Award, given during Life Care’s annual management meeting at its headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee, recognizes distinguished service in long-term health care. The Southwest Division includes 24 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Arizona, California, Nevada and New Mexico.
“Selina’s determination to strive for excellence puts everyone else’s needs above her own,” said Jennifer Baker, division field controller. “From early mornings to late nights, she doesn’t rest until she knows that the highest quality of care has been provided to her residents, families and staff each and every day. She serves the community around her with a contagious smile and a simple thank you. In her presence, you can’t help but feel the motivation to do better and to be a better person.”
Stewart led North Walk Villa to achieve a five-star quality measures rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and has reduced turnover at the building. She ensures her associates feel appreciated and has also assisted other Life Care buildings in the area.
“Selina has demonstrated professional skill and compassion in dispatching her responsibilities to the associates, residents and families she serves,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “She has uniquely demonstrated a leadership style for others to emulate. This is a distinguished award to receive because it goes to the heart of our mission.”
Fifteen President’s Awards are presented annually to leaders of overall successful facilities or organizations within Life Care.
